Google Chrome finally available for Mac and Linux, Thanks for saving my life!

Google Chrome Chrome is now available for Mac and Linux. I have been craving for Both the applications (Gtalk and Chrome) till now to install on my mac. I had blogged about it a long back. Atleast, Chrome is available now.

Download Chrome here:

http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/eula_dev.html?dl=mac

It's not yet officially released yet, not even beta. It's a developer version. But you can dare to download if you are a desperate soul like me. Safari on Mac doesn't have Add-On's, and Firefox eats up half of the memory. So i can't stay with chrome, I know it doesn't have add-on's, but it's faster, cooler and intelligent, and especially, a Google product. I am downloading right now, so can't say how it works. Download and let me know how it works on your machine. I'll keep posted on it's performance.

Launch Mac Apps from Firefox

Quickfire is a recently released experimental Firefox add-on that lets you find and launch Mac applications straight from Firefox's address awesome bar. Just like in Quicksilver, Spotlight, and any other launch helper, you need only to type a couple of letters to get it going. It doesn't provide icons for each application, but it will show you the root folder where it's stored, and loads up the app as soon as you hit enter.

If you're on a Mac there honestly isn't much use for this, since the built-in Spotlight can do the same thing with a very simple and easy keyboard shortcut of its own. However it can, occasionally, come in handy if you're in the middle of using some Web app and realize you want to fire up a certain outside application, since the result suggestions load up the same way they do for site history and bookmarks.

Some of the best Google apps not available for the Mac

Yes, it's quite annoying. Almost all of Google apps are kick ass. May it be Gtalk, Gmail notifier, Desktop, Picasa and Chrome, the best. But unfortunately, Gtalk and Chrome are not available for the Mac OSx.

Gtalk is available for Windows atleast for past 4 years, but no good news for the Mac users. Fortunately, Audium saves my life, which is the Baap of all the messengers. It supports almost all messengers on the web. But still, Gtalk for Mac will help.

Even, there's no luck with Chrome, the best browser ever. I have to use Firfox in my office computer because, I can't use Chrome at home. The Firefox on Mac is a memory hog. It eats 50% of my memory.

Please, lord Google, listen to my prayer on belaf of all Mac users, and release Gtalk and Chrome for Mac ASAP.

Google fixes severe Chrome security hole

The problem affects Google's mainstream stable version of Chrome and is fixed in the new version 1.0.154.59 (download). Google has built Chrome so it updates itself automatically with no user intervention, though the software must be restarted for the new version to run.

The security problem, reported April 8 by Roi Saltzman of the IBM Rational Application Security Research Group, allowed cross-site scripting attacks. Such methods can make a Web browser process unauthorized code such as JavaScript, enabling a variety of attacks, including impersonation or phishing.

Mark Larson, Google Chrome program manager, described the problem this way in a blog posting Thursday:

An error in handling URLs with a chromehtml: protocol could allow an attacker to run scripts of his choosing on any page or enumerate files on the local disk under certain conditions.

If a user has Google Chrome installed, visiting an attacker-controlled Web page in Internet Explorer could have caused Google Chrome to launch, open multiple tabs, and load scripts that run after navigating to a URL of the attacker's choice. Such an attack only works if Chrome is not already running.

Ubuntu 9.04 as slick as Windows 7, Mac OS X

Here's what the official press release won't tell you about Ubuntu 9.04, which formally hit the streets overnight: its designers have polished the hell out of its user interface since the last release in October.

People say it's as sleek as Windows Vista and Mac OSx 10.5. I don't believe it.

Google launches Video chat on Gtalk and Gmail. Gmail users, Please avoid.

So, Google comes up with another kickass tool, Video Chat on Gtalk. Donno how it works on Gtalk, Because, GTALK IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR MAC, Can you imagine?, Anyways, Tried it on Gmail chat. First of all, you have to download a pluggin. It's necessory for both Gtalk and Gmail users.

Download it here: http://mail.google.com/videochat

After Downloading and installing it, you just have to click the Video Chat link on your messenger, and it activates the video. Again, donno about Gtalk, but in Gmail, that thing turned off my chat, even after clicking on Turn on chat button at the bottom of the page, it doesn't work. So Gmail users, Please avaoid using Video chat, if you love your messenger. I'll write again if the problem is solved.
